With 27 days to go, today’s post is all about the venue for the PCE. As you know, we’ve broken away from the rest of the SIGs and are hosting our event at the University of Aston – a big thanks to the staff at Aston for making the event at the university possible. For your information, here are four fascinating facts about Aston:
- Aston was ranked by the university world ranking service QS as the 42nd best university in the world under 50 years old in 2015.
- The world’s longest laser, measuring 270km, was created at Aston University in the Photonics Research Group.
- Aston University’s ongoing research on plagiarism, patch-writing and the problems of overseas students in British universities is continuing to raise awareness.
- An Aston alumnus is Director of the basmati rice company Tilda, which supplies 51% of the global rice market.(http://www.aston.ac.uk/news/releases/2011/june/universities-week/aston-facts/)
It’s all happening at Aston it seems! Anyhow, we digress. The PCE itself will be held at the School of Languages and Social Sciences, known on the campus map as the Main Building, which is home to the MA in TESOL comprising options in both YL and ITC. You can find a link to directions here
This is the space where you can relax, network, drink tea and coffee to your heart’s content, and have the legendary PCE lunch.
See you in 27 days!
