Following our recent extended call for nominations, we are delighted to announce that Heike Philp was nominated for the position of Online Events Organiser and has now been elected to the committee.
Heike has been deeply involved in the LTSIG and has great experience in organising and moderating webinars and online conferences. More information about her background and vision can be found in her statement of purpose below:
I have spent most of my working life in some kind of video or web conferencing system. Currently I run Adobe connect technical support for a German university and conduct several annual web conferences and webinar support.
I was LT SIG online events organiser from 2012 to 2014 and have been DigiCom committee member since 2012 (formerly known as ElCom). I have contributed to IATEFL by supporting the annual web conference and webinars. I am the organiser of the Virtual Round Table Webconference and the highly sponsored DaFWEBKON for teachers of German. Since 2004 I co-initiated four EU funded projects to develop teacher training courses on how to teach online.
I look forward to organising online events which help connect teachers with other SIGs or other teacher associations. I would like to explore Adobe Connect to include more interactive formats (ie workshops) and would like to spearhead virtual space exploration tours whereby we use Connect as a meeting point and then venture out to explore virtual games, virtual learning environments, social VR worlds and more.
Please, join us in welcoming Heike onboard! Our complete committee can now be seen below.
On behalf of the LTSIG committee,
Sophia Mavridi
IATEFL LTSIG Co-ordinator
