Every Thursday for 10 weeks last year, we published some recordings from the LTSIG archives. All of these were captured at the IATEFL PCE in Liverpool (2013), our SIG day in Liverpool (2013), as well as our SIG day in Harrogate (2014) and at Digital ELT Ireland, 2015. Detailed information about those events can still be found by clicking on the links above. As you might be able to see, these recordings were stored in Vimeo, with the intention of sharing with members only once we had a Members’ area. We have that now. However, many of the recordings were made open access for all to see.
Sometimes we forget that to understand where we are and where we are going we need, as part of the Knowledge Building process, to better understand where we have come from.
Huw Jarvis, writing about this Archive Recording Series, November 2019.
Now we are releasing a new set of 10 recordings from that same period, starting on 23 January. We will share news via our social media channels of the latest video every Thursday, with the #tbt (Throwback Thursday) hashtag, although they will be premiered the night before. So look out for them on our social media channels. A playlist of all the videos so far can be found on our YouTube channel.
The first recording in this new ‘LTSIG Archive Recording Series’ is a presentation by Nick Turner. He is no longer working in ELT and is now responsible for responsible for managing digital projects at Television for the Environment (TVE). Six years ago he talked about his love of taking MOOCs. His session, entitled, ‘Lessons learned from a ‘language MOOC’ pilot’ explored Bell Educational Trust’s justification for running a MOOC, the pedagogical basis for them and the lessons learned. Watch the recording now.

The following presentations will be shared on the dates shown, taking us up to this year’s IATEFL conference in Manchester, when we will be recording some sessions to share in the new, forthcoming SIG Members area of the modernised IATEFL website, for those that cannot attend in person or want a replay.
If you would like to be one of the first to watch these new archive recordings then they will be premiered at 8pm (UK time) the evening before each date. Subscribe to our YouTube channel to be notified when they are about to go live:
