As part of our commitment to facilitating our members’ continuous professional development, we are thrilled to announce that the IATEFL LTSIG in partnership with the Consultants-E are offering this exciting CPD opportunity to LTSIG members. The call for applications will be open until 20 August 2016 (16.00 pm UK time). Please, check if you are eligible and apply soon.

The scholarship

The online CertICT – Certificate in Teaching Languages with Technology – is an international qualification validated by Trinity College London. It gives language teachers the skills to use a range of learning technologies in a principled and effective manner. It is structured in three modules and takes up to 9 months to complete (October-June). It costs 970 GBP in total and fees will be covered in full by the IATEFL LTSIG & the Consultants-E.

Selection Criteria

To be eligible, people must:

a) be fully-paid up LTSIG members
b) write a supporting statement of their interest in the course of about 250-300 words, and their views on how this will contribute to their professional development

(Trinity requirements)

a) be already qualified as language teachers and hold one or more of the following: the PGCE, Trinity CertTESOL, Cambridge CELTA, Trinity LTCL Diploma, Cambridge ESOL DELTA, or a national teaching certificate equivalent.

b) have access to real language learners, either a class or one-to-one students, and either face-to-face or online, to implement their ICT course project. If they are a teacher trainer, they must have access to real trainees.

c) have competence in written and spoken English. The minimum level of English language qualification accepted is that of Trinity ISE II / Cambridge First Certificate / IELTS 5,5 / TOEFL 500 / CEF B2.

d) be willing to work co-operatively as part of a group, and to complete short pair and group work tasks online in a timely manner during the course.

Demands of the course:

This is a formal qualification, externally validated by an examining body (Trinity College); the course is relatively long (120 hours over 3 modules) and challenging in terms of time and commitment. The successful candidate will therefore need to commit to the course and take all 3 modules consecutively.

For information on deferral and referral procedures for the CertICT, please see The Consultants-E website. Please note that these procedures imply additional costs, and in the event of a deferral or referral, the scholarship winner will need to cover these him or herself.

So, this is it. Please fill in the form below, think very carefully about why you should win this scholarship, inspire us with your professional vision and convince us of your commitment.
